World Breastfeeding Week 2025: It Takes a Village

World Breastfeeding Week 2025: It Takes a Village

From August 1 to 7, we're celebrating World Breastfeeding Week (WBW), a global movement that shines a spotlight on the power of breastfeeding and the incredible support mums need to make it work. This year’s theme, “Prioritise Breastfeeding: Create Sustainable Support Systems”, is music to our ears at Breastfeeding Buddy. Because here’s the thing. Breastfeeding is amazing, but it’s not always easy. It takes more than determination. It takes people, community, guidance, encouragement ... and yes, a few clever tools too.

When Support is Strong, Generations Thrive

WABA’s theme for WBW25 reminds us that breastfeeding is so much more than a personal choice. It’s a global health superpower. But let’s be real. Breastfeeding can be tough when mums feel like they’re doing it alone. This year, we’re being called to rally together. Whether you’re a family member, a friend, or a health professional, you’re a part of the support chain that helps mums thrive.

How Breastfeeding Buddy Fits In

The Breastfeeding Buddy was born out of a simple truth: how you position your body matters. The Buddy slips under your bust to support your breasts at just the right angle, helping you and baby find that sweet spot for latching and feeding with less strain. It’s not high-tech. It’s not complicated. It’s just clever. And when paired with good information and the support of your community, it makes breastfeeding feel that little bit more doable.

We’re Backed by the Best

We're lucky to be supported by a large number of Maternal Health Industry Experts, some of which include:

  • 🤍 Physiopod Co., champions of whole-body support
  • 🤍 Jessica Kahan of Holistic Lactation Consulting, who helps mums find their feeding rhythm
  • 🤍 Nicole Stephens from Lactation Matters, always cheering for mums and their choices
  • 🤍 Midwife Mel, our go-to for grounded wisdom
  • 🤍 Dr Briony of Adelaide Mums and Babies Clinic, who loves to see mother-baby teams thrive

Here are some tips from the lovely Dr Briony:

These legends, and so many others, help us bring trustworthy, empowering content to our community every day.

Let’s Keep Showing Up for Mums

This World Breastfeeding Week, let’s celebrate every link in the chain. Whether you're offering a cup of tea, creating a workplace that supports expressing, or answering a helpline, you’re helping shape a brighter, more supported future.

To every mum doing her best, we see you.

To the friends, family, doulas, midwives, and partners, we thank you.

To our beautiful Breastfeeding Buddy community, let’s keep lifting each other up.
