Hi lovely community,
I can hardly believe it – on July 7th, Breastfeeding Buddy turned ONE! What started as a heartfelt idea born from personal experience and the desire to support fellow mums has become a brand, a community, and a movement I’m so proud of.
Five years ago, I was juggling the early days of motherhood, cluster feeds, cracked nipples (yes, let’s be real!), and the beautiful chaos of breastfeeding. In that vulnerable but powerful space, the idea for Breastfeeding Buddy was born. I wanted to create something that felt like a helping hand for new mums. Something practical and empowering, and something which was going to make your breastfeeding experience just that little bit easier.
Fast forward to today, our Breastfeeding Buddy's have found their way into your homes, your nurseries, your hospital bags and your nightstands. And it’s all because of you ... the incredible mums who believed in what we’re doing.
This journey hasn’t been one I’ve taken alone, and truly, I wouldn’t want it any other way. From the beginning, I’ve had the absolute privilege of collaborating with some of the most respected, knowledgeable, and passionate people in the maternal health industry. These relationships have been a huge part of Breastfeeding Buddy’s growth, and I’m so proud to celebrate them today.
Let’s start with the incredible team at The Memo. Being stocked by one of Australia’s most loved destinations for modern parenting essentials was a real milestone in our journey. The Memo is known for curating products that are beautiful, practical, and genuinely supportive for parents. They saw the value in Breastfeeding Buddy right away, and their platform has helped us reach new mums around Australia who are now better supported in their feeding journey.
We’re also proud to be stocked by some incredible professionals who share our mission of supporting new parents. Physiopod Co. offers expert physiotherapy and podiatry care with a strong focus on pelvic floor, women’s health, and pregnancy in the Greater Geelong region. Their dedication to antenatal and postpartum support makes them a perfect fit for Breastfeeding Buddy.
Jessica Kahan from Holistic Lactation Consulting brings over a decade of experience as a registered midwife, IBCLC, and NDC accredited practitioner. Her nurturing, whole-family approach helps parents navigate breastfeeding with confidence and care.
Nicole Stephens from Lactation Matters has been supporting families for more than 20 years. As a nurse, midwife, and certified lactation consultant, she combines clinical expertise with lived experience to offer trusted, compassionate care. These are more than stockists. They are passionate advocates who continue to uplift and empower the families we serve.
A very special thank you goes to the wonderful Midwife Mel. Mel is an absolute force in the perinatal space. Her warmth, clinical knowledge, and tireless advocacy for women’s health are nothing short of inspiring. She’s empowered so many families through her education and one-on-one support, and I was beyond honoured when she first shared the Breastfeeding Buddy with her audience. Her endorsement has meant so much to me, and her belief in the importance of our product continues to be a powerful reminder that we’re on the right path.
To every midwife, maternal health nurse, lactation consultant, IBCLC, doula, and perinatal professional who has recommended, gifted, or simply mentioned the Breastfeeding Buddy, thank you. Whether you’ve passed it on to a new mum, posted about it, or included it in your clinic or practice, I see you. Your support has helped grow this little business in the most organic and heart-filled way.
I’ve had so many pinch-me moments this past year. A big one? Setting up our first stall at the Melbourne One Fine Baby Expo and meeting so many of you face to face. Watching mums interact with the product in real life, seeing their curiosity turn into understanding and their understanding into excitement makes my purpose for The Buddy even more clear.
Another proud moment? Being named a finalist for the 2024 Alan Knipe Innovation Award. As a solo founder in a sea of incredible innovation, this recognition meant the world to me and validated the purpose behind our product.
Thank you for every review, every share, every DM, and every word of encouragement. Thank you for letting the Breastfeeding Buddy be part of your story. Here’s to many more years of supporting each other ... one feed at a time.
To finish, here's a birthday message from one of our lovely partners and stockists: Dr Rhiannon Smith, General Practitioner and Lactation Consultant and Certified NDC Practitioner at Adelaide Mums and Babies Clinic!
With love and positive vibes,
Claire x
